Freezer

Our freezer is fixed! The technician came by on Saturday and found a leak. It didn't cost us anything to have it fixed. Yay! I should be really excited, right? Well, guess what? The freezer still STINKS!!!!!! The guy said to put dryer sheets in it (which we have done) and Mike's mom told us to clean it with bleach (which we have not done, yet) to get rid of the smell. The technician said he's never had anyone not get the smell out. Well, we could be the first ones! We've brought it back into the garage, but when you open the door.........watch out! I'm sure there will be more to this story to come later.....

okay so the fix was free but is it worth the effort to remove the smell? I think I would go shopping!

Have you tried:

Vinegar?
Baking soda (get it slightly damp and rub it in)?
Fabreeze?
Pet odor removers?
Letting it sit open in the sun for a while?

I'd try a BUNCH of stuff before I got rid of it.

Well, the vinegar froze! We had it sitting outside for several days...that's why it doesn't smell as bad now. :) We tried baking soda, but we haven't tried Febreeze...that's a good idea. I'm not ready to throw it out and spend $700 again!! Thanks for the advice! We'll give it a try!

Sorry I am late to the "How Do You Get That Smell Out? Party". How about wetting it with Stanley Steamer's Odor Out!

Hmmm...not a bad idea!

You could try a spray bottle with bleach in it. Spray the whole inside - shelves, sides, etc. Don't wipe it off. Do that several times a day. You could probably wipe it down each day before you spray. I'm not sure you should do anything. Make Mike!! :)

Does your freezer have freon (sp?) or something like it? I'm sure the smell would be in that, too. Can it be changed out?

Hmmm...we hadn't thought about the freon. I don't know if it does or not. We'll have to check.

Need a new post! Did you have it sitting outside in the sun, open?

I'm with Kari - - - I think letting it sit open in the sun would come the closest to doing the trick, AND it wouldn't leave a nasty bleach smell in its place. (Only be sure it is someplace safe where no kids can get trapped in it)

I ALSO agree with Kari - - - time for a new post.

BOY - - - that Kari is really smart, isn't she!?!
