The February 1st Ice Storm????

On this picture of the road, those stripes are from the salt brine they put down on the roads today to prevent snow/sleet/freezing rain from sticking to the roads.
So what do you think? Based on these pictures, are we going to get 2-4 inches of snow? Look at the beautiful blue skies....what a gorgeous day today! However, several hours before these pictures were taken, one county had already cancelled school for tomorrow! And a flake has yet to fall! :) We're supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow and then freezing rain on top of that. So even though it was a cool but beautiful day, even more schools have announced their closings for tomorrow. My school is on a 2-hr. delay just to see what will happen. I just love living in the South! And yes.....I'm sure the grocery stores are out of bread and milk! :)

The Dining and Living Rooms

I finally have some pictures of my house for Keetha. :) This is the dining room. On the left is the living room and on the right is the kitchen. The view of the deck and backyard as seen through the sliding glass doors in the dining room.

This is the living room as seen from the kitchen. From the front door you can see through the living room into the dining room.
The view from the dining room.

More to come later.....

Snow!!

Here is our first snow of the year! After temperatures being in the high 60s for almost a week or more, I thought we'd never see winter! Monday was a beautiful day. It was so warm I didn't wear a coat. Then today, we might have reached 30 as the high and I didn't make it to school for our work day. I got about 5 minutes down the road, got on the interstate, and traffic was creeping. An SUV had overturned! So, I turned around and went home where I did a lot of work. We just don't have good roads or good snow removal equipment. When the pavement gets wet, it also gets very slick. There were numerous accidents this morning, including a 7-car pile up. I'm glad I stayed home. Unfortunately, Mike is flying in from Italy today. Thank goodness most of the ice and snow has melted!

Mexican Train Dominoes

I love to play Mexican Train Dominoes! We had some friends over last night to play, and I just love it! My sister-in-law introduced it to us last year at Christmas and we've been addicted ever since. In fact, we played it on New Year's Eve with a group of people and ended up being the last ones to leave....at 3 AM!!!! It is way too much fun! The funny thing about Mexican Train Dominoes is that no one I know plays it the same way. Evidently we all interpreted the rules differently, so it's almost like you're not playing the same game every time. I am including some pictures of us on Christmas Eve at Mike's parents' house. We're playing with his mom, Ruby, and his sister, Sherri. I just love Mexican Train Dominoes!!! :)

Thr3e

Since Kari is upset that I haven't written anything in awhile, here goes......(I've just enjoyed reading and commenting on everyone else's blogs!) We went to see the movie Thr3e tonight which is based on a book by Ted Dekker. I had never heard of Ted Dekker until Mike wanted the new Frank Peretti book for Christmas which was co-authored by Ted Dekker. It was a good movie! It comes out in theaters Friday night. (We managed to get free tickets to this early-bird showing through our Christian radio station, WBFJ. By the way, how do you get those cool links to show up like Robin and Kari do? Ok, so now how do I get the underline off?) Anyway, it's a suspense movie which is PG-13, probably for the "violence" and suspense. Young children should not go see it. We were in a theater filled with teenagers from the Salvation Army Girls and Boys Clubs. Needless to say, it wasn't really quiet during the movie, but I still managed to get into it. :) The suspense was so good that Mike even jumped during one part. I don't want to give away the plot, but this is about how it starts out. Imagine that you're driving down the road and you get a private call on your cell phone. When you answer, someone on the other end says to call the local newspaper and confess your sin. If you don't, your car will blow up in 3 minutes. You wonder if it is a crank call or a serious one. So, you pull over into an empty field, grab your cell phone and run, then your car blows up! Wow! The story did have a great ending! Mike and I were both guessing "who did it" and we were both wrong! (Mike isn't usually wrong.) We really enjoyed the movie and can't wait to read the book. The movie is worth seeing. What other movies are out there that are good but not full of filth?
