Old Salem

Today we went to Old Salem to walk around and see the houses and learn about the history of the Moravians. When the Moravians came over to the states, they built the town of Salem and only Moravians could live there.

Mom and Kevin in front of the covered bridge where we crossed over to the past.....

Rachel and Aunt Tara as we were waiting to eat lunch at the Salem Tavern....we were teasing Rachel about the woman on the other side of the window watching her....
We were waiting on Mom to get out of a book shop.... Rachel was smacking Uncle Kevin on the head with her new fan.
Rachel, Tara, Mom and I took a carriage ride with Rusty the horse pulling us. When Mom said she was from Marion, IN, the guy driving asked if we were Wesleyans! He attends a Wesleyan church in the area and said that Tom Kinnan was preaching a revival a few years back and he renewed his walk with Christ. What a small world!
It's not a stuffed animal! :)
....at God's Acre...this is where all the Moravians from Old Salem were buried. Can you see Dad in the background? We went inside this church, the Moravian Home Church, which was built in 1800.

It was a beautiful day today! The afternoon started out in the 60s and then warmed up quite nicely! We had a great time! :)

Rachel, Part II

Rachel with my sunglasses when we were eating out at the Country Kitchen....
....at the Japanese restaurant with her "pork chops"...yep, that's what she called them!
...we did her hair fancy....
.....more to come...

Rachel

I know, I know...it's been forever since I've posted anything....except on Kevin's blog. :) So, tomorrow I will post pictures of things Rachel and I have been doing...only after I get home from school, of course. She is in bed right now with her new friend, Wrinkles, a dog she got at Cracker Barrell....I take that back...now she's in here talking to me when she's supposed to be in bed. What fun we are having! :)

Happy Birthday to me!

Saturday was my birthday, and I got to celebrate it with my sister, Kari, my mom and my aunt. We went to a 12-hr scrapbook crop! Here are some pictures of our day. And yes, they gave me a "Happy Birthday" ribbon that I had to wear all day!My mom, being the creative one, wrapped one of my presents in a flannel shirt! Less waste that way! Aunt Jean is working hard on one of her very first scrapbook pages ever! They turned out really good!
Here I am showing off my new birthday presents from Kari.
Mom is working on her Washington, D.C. pictures from an 8th grade trip with her school.

Kari taught us how to make flip-flops in a Make-It Take-It class. She did a great job! Mom, Aunt Jean and I weren't very good students. We kept taking pictures which got us behind the rest of the class.

Weather at Ocean Isle Beach

Click here to see the current weather at Ocean Isle Beach. It looks warmer outside than it really is.

Ladies' Beach Trip

I'm finally at the beach! For the third year in a row, a group of ladies from my church have ventured to Ocean Isle Beach for a weekend of rest, relaxation, pampering, crying and laughing! We arrived last night around 11 pm, and so far this morning we have had devotions and sharing. If you notice the time stamp for this blog, you will see that it is not morning any more! We are finally getting ready for the day so that we can go eat lunch (because we only brought food for breakfast this morning) and get groceries for the rest of the weekend. It's so nice to be on vacation and not worry about time! :)

More of my house for Keetha.....

The Master Bedroom is right off the kitchen and perpendicular to the master bathroom. Zach started following me around once I pulled out my camera and he ended up in every shot. He got to the point where he wouldn't even look at the camera! (Btw, don't tell him he's a cat....he might get offended!)

The Master Bathroom.....this room is huge! We have a huge L-shaped countertop with 2 sinks. The toilet and shower are in their own separate room within the bathroom, and the washer and dryer are off to the right. I even have a dresser in there! I wish that our closet was this big!
