more bed rest

Well, I'm on bed rest again.... Last week I was on bed rest because I had been spotting and had some mild cramping. When the cramping continued from Saturday night into Sunday afternoon, the doctor wanted to check me out and sent me to the hospital. (A good friend from church took me since Mike was gone.) I was having contractions but I wasn't feeling them and I wasn't dilating. So they sent me home for a week of bed rest. Monday I went back to school and was thoroughly exhausted after being on bed rest for 9 days! Tuesday we went to our last childbirth class and toured the hospital.....almost exhausting. Wednesday I got to school and while talking to another teacher, got hot and lightheaded. She walked me back to my room and the school nurse came and took my blood pressure. It was great! 110 over something....and my pulse was fine. A little later I discovered some spotting so I went to see the doctor yesterday afternoon. She said my cervix was really thinned out and she could feel the baby's hair through the membrane. She said it was so thin she probably could have poked her finger through the membrane and I would have already been dilated 1-2 cm! So, we're trying to hold the baby off until Easter. That's my spring break and mom, dad, Kari and the kids will all be here. Wouldn't that be the perfect time to have the baby??

I'm attaching some pictures of me from the 1st Saturday I was on bed rest. (I was 2 days shy of 34 weeks.) I had just dropped Mike off at the airport sending him off to Italy. Teachers and students at school say that I'm even bigger now. Actually, my students say that the basketball I'm smuggling has inflated. :) When I look at these pictures I think I look huge, but people tell me that from behind I don't even look pregnant. Yeah! I hope you enjoy them....

OK, I'm ready to vote "GIRL" now. Not that my vote matters since your child will be in college before I make it back east. Anyway, you're carrying this baby like I carried Sydney. Without all the extra weight I gained, of course. :) Other than that, it's just wishful thinking. I miss shopping for cute baby girl clothes.

I'm sorry about the bed rest - - - though since I'm not carrying a baby right now, I'd actually be quite THRILLED if someone put me on bedrest - - - yep, that tired.

Kim girl - - - you are ADORABLE with that bb under your shirt. AND I've never seen your hair look better!!!!

WOW - - - you positively GLOW.

I think you glow too, Kim. And it does look like all baby right out in front - too cute! (Although I never feel as cute as people tell me I look.) ;)

OK Now I vote girl too. You look like I did with both of mine. By the way we are on the TN/KY border. Clarksville to exact. So sorry you're on bedrest. At least it sounds ;ike you should have a quick easy labor.
Praying baby waits till everyone gets there.

You guys are so sweet! And Keetha, thanks for the comment about my hair. I've missed 2 appointments because of bed rest, and it'll probably be weeks before I can get it cut. I'm feeling like a bush! :)

Sarah, don't worry about subbing. We found a retired math teacher from Starmount and she really seems to be enjoying it. :) Everything has worked out perfectly so far!

You look great! I know everyone said it already but you do have "the glow"! I'm sorry too about the bedrest-in the long run it is good, but it stinks right now. (This is the nurse in me), make sure you are pumping your ankles to keep the blood flowing while you're lying down. Bedrest puts you at higher risk for clots so just make sure to keep the blood flowing to your legs! Sorry for the side note.
You look great!

Now the not-so-sweet sister comment: I think my niecephew looks more like a large beach ball rather than a basketball - maybe a large watermelon! Your favorite food. Hee, hee...
